PROFESSIONALISM is being able to do things with excellence. I believe that even if you're doing just a simple thing in the office, it would be appreciated if you do it with consistency and full responsibility. Everytime I go to the office, I always meditate to myself by briefing myself never to be emotional in every tasks I do. If ever I have problems at home, I never carry it in the office for I know it might affect my performance in there. I also believe that everyone can be professional as long as they know on how to be careful and sensitive enough in everything they do.
August 18 2012, my last day as an intern was a very memorable one. It is part of the program of the 75 families of distinction that they are going to have the " LAAG LAAG SA DAKBAYAN". We went to the uphill areas of Cebu City, where we were able to avail the free zipline experience at the Cebu Zipline owned by the Canete Family. The experience was amazing yet it gave me a chance to unwind with the nature. It made me realize that we should also enjoy having fun with the nature, that's why we should take care of our natural resources. I'm looking forward for another tour with another distinguished families here in Cebu.
Last August 17, 2012 the 75 families of distinction awarding ceremony was held in our school. As a student of our university, I am very proud for we are the the school who made a very remarkable impact to the featured families of that specific month. The event was spearheaded by our university president, Rev. Fr. Enrico Peter A. Silab OAR. There was a police band who made the ceremony start with a bang! The featured families were the Alcoseba, Canete, Abellana and Villanueva. I heard them say that they really appreciated the effort and the program that was made by our school. It made me so proud as a Josenian for we really do everything with our best. Mayor Mike Rama thanked the school for the warm welcome and for the initiation of such historical activity.
August 3-4 we were part of the first ever Cebu Music Festival which was held at the Ayala terraces. The event started around 6 in the evening, a lo t of local bands participated the 2-day music event. On the Second day, the event was highlighted by the famous band CUESHE which turned the audience into an uproar. Being part of the said event made me so proud for its is a very challenging event for everyone, we have to to appreciate our own music for this is where we came from. Good thing, there was a free meal for us interns during the event. At least, we were able to save our allowances at that time. The whole event taught me on how to be more flexible and active because big events like the Cebu Music Festival needs proper preparation such as the paper works, certificates, shirts, food and documentation.
June 12, 2012, Independence Day. It was one of the most memorable day for us josenian interns for we were able to join the 114th Independence Day Grand parade and Ball. During the parade, we were assigned to assist the VIPs at the Cebu City Sports Complex for them to witness the program conducted by the Cebu City Government. That day, we were able to have a close encounter with Cebu City Mayor, Hon. Michael Rama for he was also there to spearhead the activity. After the grand parade, we prepared for the Grand Ball which was held at the Waterfront Hotel And Casino. The event was formal and so we put on our cocktail outfits and formal looks hehehe. That night, we were assigned to assist the guests to their respective seats. That was just an easy task for us, then when dinner begun I hurriedly went to the buffet table to have my fill. Later that night, we were asked by our boss Ms. Cinbeth Orellano to join the dance party and so we had no choice but to deal with it. We went to the dance floor and started dancing as formal individuals. At first, it was a bit awkward because the people around us were different politicians here in Cebu. Congressman Antonio Cuenco was there with Mayor Rama. Mikel Rama, son of Mayor Rama was also there gracing with the crowd. City Councilors were also there to enjoy the night and celebrate the nationalistic event. Today, I am looking forward for another Independence Day experience.
First day of internship for me was a bang! I was the only josenian intern at the office and the rest were from Cebu Normal University. The challenge for me at that time is on how to cope with the environment and how to interact with them. I also don't know what to do at that time for I was still observing the routines in the office. Good thing, my fellow interns were very accommodating, at least they were able to minimize my nervousness. While I was just observing, my mind was very busy thinking of things or experiences that i might encounter in the upcoming days. Later that day I was asked to join a tour within the city which they call "Suroy Suroy sa Sugbo", I was really surprised for I didn't expect that I would be able to join such fun activity on that day. As days passed by, I was already used with the system inside the office, I was already given tasks that helped me learn a lot.
The 75 Families of Distinction Suroy suroy sa Sugbo was actually a memorable experience for me. I was able to go to some places in the City of Cebu which I've never been before. It was also a great experience for me because together with the tour was the 75 Families of Distinction. The most unforgettable moment for me during the tour was the donation of books, computers and other educational materials to the students of Baranggay Taptap Elementary School. It feels good to be part of those kind hearted people and serves as an instrument of the brighter future of the students.
I really had a wonderful experience during the tour, what I learn from that activity is, if you are generous to other people and you share your blessing, God will shower you more blessings.
